What is A.C Compressor Pump?
To move refrigerant gases between the two sides of the A/C system and create a pressure difference, the compressor must be able to generate strong suction. This is accomplished using a pump mechanism. Inside the compressor pump, a rotor spins at high speed. Similar to the way a turbine works, the spinning rotor pulls gases into the inlet and pushes them out the other side. The rotor inside the compressor is connected to the engine of the car using a belt. This direct mechanical connection eliminates the need for a separate, more complicated electric motor. The belt connection allows the air conditioning to function when the engine is running but not when it is turned off.
